Ceiling fan changed direction on its own & running half power?

my ceiling fan recently began making noise, slowed to a stop, and started running backwards. I flipped the switch on the fan to make it change directions again so it's still pushing air down. It's only running at half speed now at best. I have a remote box installed in the fan... is it the box or the fan that needs replaced? And what would cause it to suddenly change direction.. a change in polarity.. if so how? Thanks!Ceiling fan changed direction on its own %26amp; running half power?
turn it off now an don't use again untill fixed. vibration can cause the wire nuts to loosen. bare wires could be touching. could be a fire hazard.Ceiling fan changed direction on its own %26amp; running half power?
There is a little button up close to the top that will change the direction of the spin. See if it is in the half way position.Ceiling fan changed direction on its own %26amp; running half power?
There should be some sort of button OR another string to pull on to change the direction. Good luck. I know it is too hot for this to be happenning to you! LOL.Ceiling fan changed direction on its own %26amp; running half power?
Sounds like the remote or the box in the canopy is bad. Easy way to check is drop the canopy and remove the remote controller, the reattach the fan direct with out the remote. If it works fine the you can just replace the remote controller. Do not do this with a casablanca!Ceiling fan changed direction on its own %26amp; running half power?
Get a new fan. souds like a shorted circuit which could burn the house down
