Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?

I am not a Denver Nuggets or a Detroit Pistons fan, but it seems to me that NBA fans do not seem to differentiate the regular season from the playoffs. In that they fail to realize that the regular season and statistics mean NOTHING, while the pos-season and experience mixed in with confidence means EVERYTHING.

There is no question that CP3 is the best statistical PG in the NBA during the season, but Chauncey Billups has made it apparent to everyone that he is the best all-around PG in the NBA and the best playoff performer of his position of this decade this side of Isiah Thomas.

Not only is he humiliating CP3, but he is going off on the Hornets because he has the power to completely shutdown CP3 being that he is the best defensive PG of his position knowing that CP3 can not shut him down because he is a superior shooter to Paul.

Billups gives poise and experience to his teams and being back on the Nuggets he has changed the chemistry showing that statistically speaking Paul may be better maybe even Williams, but overall they hold no water in comparison to Billups.

I mean look at it this way Billups made the transition from one of the best defensive teams in the NBA that use a half-court set as an offense. Where he has won a Final and has gone to a team that was a laughing stock on the defensive end and has a uptempo styled offensive system. The end result is that the Nuggets maintained the offensive pace they have built up over the years w/ Billups at the helm, but have also perfected their defense by far. He is the ultimate team chemistry changer.

PG's like CP3 and Williams fit their systems perfectly in that CP3 is built for a alley-oop and athletic styled team a new school PG if you will who can shoot, obviously pass, and of course get steals. D.Will is just the opposite other than the passing that resembles CP3 he is a physical and built PG, like that of Billups (something Billups uses to his advantage over Paul) who can shoot and do what Paul does, but he is the epitome of a Sloan PG one that fits the old school mold and can orchestrate the pick n' roll, like Malone and Stockton used to do.

To put it in simpler terms CP3 is more of a vintage Kidd and D.Will is more of a vintage Stockton. Both great PG's, but totally different and if they exchanged teams their talent would still make that team successful, but their styles of play may not mesh if they exchange places with their ne team. Billups on the other hand is vintage Sam Cassell only 100x w. more talent.

In that Billups, like Cassell who hit big 3's in the Finals as a rookie Billups hits big shot after Big Shot in his career. Thus, %26quot;Mr. Big Shot%26quot; being created. Also, like Cassell a player who in his prime took a NJ Nets team from 20 win seasons to 40 win seasons, and Bucks and T-Wolves teams that were 2nd round playoff virgins before he came into the Conference Finals. Or how's about the Clippers who have never made it to the playoffs in almost 20 years Cassell comes and almost takes them to the WCF. Billups is the same as Cassell cut from the same cloth of team chemistry changers only Billups has a better diversified game with less titles.

Noneteless, Billups is taking the playoffs by storm and it could result in the Nuggets beating Hornets in a sweep and Paul can not do anything about it despite his obvious talent because he is no Billups. It is no coincedence that the PG's that have had their way w. Paul are Billups and Parker (2 of which that are the ultimate playoff performers and NBA Finals MVP's at their position).

Last year Paul was on a scoring frenzy against SA, but when SA started to play their half court slow paced game rather than conforming to NO and Paul's pace. That was when Parker took it to Paul and the Spurs won the series. Parker knew that his speed and knowhow could result in him getting to the rim at Paul's expense. The Hornets struggled w/ Paul as the orchestrator when they were forced to play SA's game.

Thus, showing being the best does not mean statistics. Overall speaking this is how I would rank the PG's 1-10 and playoffs play a large component to this.

Top Playoff PG's as of now:

1) Chauncey Billups

2) Tony Parker

3) Mike Bibby

4) Steve Nash

5) Deron Williams

6) Chris Paul

7) Derek Fisher - May even be up more for all he has done

8) Jason Kidd - Good in the playoffs, not good in the clutch

9) Rajon Rondo - Turning into a playoff monster

10.) Baron Davis -or- Andre Miller - Either or

On the cusp of making the list: Derrick Rose -and- Mo Williams if they play like this would be on list in no time.

Devin Harris is not my type of PG because he is not the conventional PG.Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
I don't think he's the best PG in the league,I think it's a toss up between D-Will and ParkerWhy do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
It is just other peoples opinions. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Chauncy makes his team better. I agree. But you put Paul under Parker, Williams, BIBBY? What are you thinking? Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Oh my god... normally I read your questions... even the really long ones but this one is just... wow...

So... I'll look at your rankings...

Honestly, I agree CP3 isn't the VERY best PG(It's Deron or even Tony) but he definatly isn't 5th. However, your playoff rankings look good.

Edit:

Alright... fourth I can accept. Somewhat. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
lol @ overrating Steve NashWhy do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
How in gods name did you find the time to write all that?

Either way I'm a Nuggets fan so I'm gonna have to agree with the whole Chauncey Billups being the best PG, Chris Paul is talented though so I have no disrespect for the CP3 fans. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
steve nash better than chris paul...right now? i know everyone is entitled to their opinion but you are smoking some seriously high grade stuff. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
I still think CP3 is the best PG as of right now. He is the best ballhandler in the league, great leader and passer, not to mention he can explode to the rim at anytime. Still i get wut u are trying to say,and yes billups as of now is better in the playoffs cause of his experience, but CP3 is a rising star who will earn experience as the years go by.Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Chris paul does not have a very good team. He should restart with a young team like the blazers or the thunderWhy do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
You're making yourself look really dumb right now.Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Honestly, do you always write so much to cover up the fact that you're a complete moron? Quit the very obvious hating. I'm okay if you put Billups over Paul for now, for he is outplaying Paul. But Parker, Williams? Get a brain. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Wow. Put CP on the Pistons or the Nuggets right now, and they are the third best team in the league. Im not going to read all that but sixth? Come on have you ever seen him play? Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
ballhog billups ?Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Devin Harris not your type?, 4 of the point guard there are score first point guards, (Mike Bibby, Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo, and Chauncey Billups) all are score first point guards, Chauncey might not be a scoring first PG anymore, but he admitted that he once was, I think that your being completely ridiculous, and quite frankly I think the new brand of PG's/ Hybrid Guards are better, and have much higher player efficiency ratings, I'd rather have a scoring point guard because they draw the defense, which leads to easier buckets.

But I do agree with you on everything else, Chauncey is a better playoff performer and doesn't get the hype he deserves. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
That is quite the novel you got there, very few people are going to read all that, you must have alot of time on your hands. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
Wow, Billups shoots the lights out for two games and he's suddenly the best point guard in the game. What an overreaction. Billups is taking advantage of a horrible and dispirited New Orleans defense that is a shadow of the team that took the Spurs to seven games last year. Replace the two and Denver would threaten the Lakers for the best team in the West. Paul can't penetrate as well in the series because Denver is free to help, as no one on New Orleans is shooting well or can create their own shot. The wear and tear from the regular season is showing. Without Paul playing at an MVP level during the regular season, New Orleans isn't even thinking playoffs right now.

Nash is still a good shooter, but he's definitely lost a step from his MVP years (especially the 50-40-90 years), and the comparison on defense between Paul and Nash is like heaven and earth. Nash can't do anything on the defensive end aside from take charges. Nash definitely can't penetrate as well as Paul can with his teardrop shot. Replace the two and New Orleans doesn't make the playoffs.

Parker isn't as good of a shooter as Paul and definitely not a better floor general. You can make an argument that he's a better finisher, but San Antonio would challenge the Lakers if you swapped the two. Paul makes everyone around him far better -- West isn't an All-Star without Paul, and none of the Hornets' other players (especially Peja and Chandler) get the open shots they thrive on without Paul running the floor.

I don't even have to argue why Bibby isn't better than Paul. I don't know why I'm even giving you a license to argue if you can't articulate this more or less obvious fact. Deron Williams is the closest you can get in terms of arguing on the best point guard in the game, and I won't go there. Why do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
chris paul is the best PG, compare his stats to everyother point guard u said..i gurantee you by the time his career is over he'll have more points, assist, and steals than the other guys..put him with the elite teams the other PG play in and youll see him with championships already

%26quot;In that they fail to realize that the regular season and statistics mean NOTHING%26quot;, so what's the point of playing if it means nothing, GTFO

%26quot;the pos-season and experience mixed in with confidence means EVERYTHING.%26quot; not really, it only means everything if you win a championship otherwise if you don't win the championship the whole playoffs doesnt mean anything just like the regular season according to youWhy do people think that Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA?
i don't think so i think it is Rose or Billups, Billups has been on fire

Billups 09 MVP

Nuggets 09 champs
