Step by step instructions on how to overclock oc a e6400 on a asus p5n-e sli motherboard???

I would like to overclock my processor from the 2.2Ghz to 2.8Ghz-3.0Ghz...

System Stats:

Asus P5N-E SLI mobo (original BIOS..no update.. anyway how do you update the bios??)

485W Enermax psu

Corsair XMS2 c4 DDR2-800 6400 2GB dual channel RAM (4-4-4-12 timings)

intel e6400 CPU

mini typhoon for cooling/arctic silver 5 + 120mm and 80mm case fans (thermaltake)

I am wondering if you would see a notiable bootup/operating speed if i would oc the e6400 to 2.8Ghz

If so could you tell me what things to change in the BIOS?? to get it to 2.8Ghz.................FSB ..... CPU multiplier.... RAM timing.... black or yellow RAM slots???........ect...

Also would there be a lot of stress on the CPU if i go form 2.2 to 2.8Ghz?? or only if i go up past 3.0Ghz??

losts of questions!!

Yes, lots of questions. In fact, way too many!

The types and range of your questions reveals your inexperience. This isn't an insult by any means. It's just that your answer(s) would require tomes of information which is beyond the scope of a simple question %26amp; answer venue.

Also, half the kids out there that have just taken computer lab in high school and think they're experts now will flood you with stupid answers. And there isn't a clean mechanism here for rebutting these morons.

Your best bet is to go around visiting overclocking forums. Over time, you'll end up with a lot of information, both general and specific, with which to educate yourself. And be prepared, this will take time - there's no magic pill for knowledge, grasshopper... ;-)
