Ask me why I love American football, baseball, basketball or even hockey and I could go on and on about how each position in each sport requires a combination of athleticism, violence, speed and skill
and each has the ability change the momentum of the contest or determine the outcome of the game.
Also, professional sports in America are paced well and have a nice flow with breaks in the action that allow the game to be analyzed by fans and broadcasters.

I LOVE playing soccer. I also truly enjoyed watching the boys' games at my high school. I actually think the only reason I liked watching it then was because I knew all the players quite well. But I agree with you in that it's the definition of boring to watch on TV, especially in comparison to football. It's impossible to get into the game unless you're actually there. For those season ticket holders in Europe and South America, I understand why they love it. Watching soccer games live are some of the best times I've ever had. But for those of you who have never been to a soccer game, I do not blame you in the slightest for hating it. You can't possibly understand the excitement through a TV screen. Hate to break it to you, but hockey is about as American as Canadian Bacon.
Also, and I'm saying this a someone that couldn't care less about soccer, who cares? So some people like watching a few guys kick a ball around a field for an hour or two. So what?
It also IS the world's most popular sport because a lot of the poorer countries can't afford for kids to play much else. American Football requires helmets and lots of pads and a special ball and a 50-man squad... Baseball needs a bat and a lot of extra balls and mits (my mit was $50 ON SALE) and bases... for soccer, all these people need is something round that doesn't break your foot when you kick it.

as a huge american football and soccer fan i must simply ask why do you have so much hatred towards soccer? its obvious you've never played or even attempted to understand the game or you would not have much such a stupid comment as stating that soccer positions don't matter and the outcome doesn't hinge on single play. you are more than welcome to prefer football or basketball or any other sport to soccer. its your preference. but to assume that soccer doesn't utilize a combination of athleticism, violence, speed and skill is just plain dumb. soccer involves more athleticism and toughness and speed and skill than most sports in america. does it have its problems? sure. the amount of diving in the game is incredible but there are things like that in every sport.
and as far as the pacing aspect goes if you don't have the attention span to watch the action for 45 minutes, that's a reflection of you and not soccer. you can have your commercials, i'd rather watch the game.Why can%26039;t soccer fanboys admit that soccer sucks when its so obvious?
