How do I finish Windows XP reinstall?

My 4 year old laptop is creaking around the edges so I reinstalled windows XP over the current installation in an attempt to speed it up. (I used the winnt32 exe in the C:/windows/i386 folder). It's made a huge difference already. The fan had been on constantly beforehand.

I have a few problems of how to get things back to a usable state. I managed to reinstall a cardbus for internet access as I had the driver but I think I have many more drivers to install. For one, the display looks odd (square stretched to widescreen) and the display options don't change anything.

The laptop was from the company that is no more, Tiny, and came with a Drivers for Notebook CD. Trouble is, within this are folders for various series of notebooks labelled Series T, Series W etc? How will I know what drivers are for what? Would it be safe to try and install everything and see what works?

Also, can I delete everything from the older installation without worrying? Tried to delete some files and was not allowed to, like they were protected despite not being needed. Can I force it to delete? How do I finish Windows XP reinstall?
its going to be trial and error i'm afraid, if you attempt to install a driver thats already installed it will prompt if the one installed is newer, but it does sound as though your video driver is not installed though. How do I finish Windows XP reinstall?
If you type dxdiag into a run box you should be able to find out what parts are in your laptop. After this google is very useful all you need to do is type (part) + %26quot;driver%26quot; Some drivers are a lot harder to find than others though.

Good luckHow do I finish Windows XP reinstall?
anything is fixable Remember Back up Back up

make a snap shot of your Windows xp save it to removable drive to set windows back to good configuration and play have fun if your experiment with drivers and deleting files has a bad result use snap shot to reload

to remove a file that try right clicking select explore right click each sub-file select delete there will be one sub file you can not delete
