Am i good enough to play D1 baseball?

I know its long but any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was just curious if i was good enough to play D1 baseball, i have played baseball since the age of 6 and played in numerous federation leagues and played in high school my freshmen year, but due to the poor baseball program at my high school i decided to resign from high school baseball, my arm was being torn apart, i live in Michigan and the season began in early April, which is still very cold, i was a closer because i lacked control at that age, which is a issue that has passed as i worked with a pitching coach and grew in height. However i was given no warm up and told on the spot to pitch i did good but it was very taxing on my arm, which has a history of getting hurt. I have always been a dominant pitcher and have only had one pitch a 4 seam fastball, i never threw a change up or breaking ball and only on a few occasions experimented with a 2 seam fastball. I never needed to throw anything else in federation ball, high school ball and recreational ball. I have never had anything past a double hit against me (no joke).

However what concerns me is that i haven檛 thrown in awhile i played recreational ball my sophomore and junior year of high school and didn檛 really feel the competition was up to par, there were some teams that provided a bit of a challenge such as teams that in their local area didn檛 have federation leagues and only had recreational leagues. I was averaging 10-18 strikeouts a game in a 7 inning game and my era my sophomore year was around 0.50 I was also technically playing up a division, however I faced no opponent that could actually hit me, the most hits I allowed in a game I believe was 3. I also threw a no hitter/shutout against the 1 ranked team in the regional finals.

My next year of pitching I actually had a fan base, people would come out to see me throw in the playoffs such as league officials from other leagues. I was also featured in my local paper for the game I pitched. However I sustained a early injury to my rotator cuff and I lost the zest of my fastball, which probably dropped 10-15 mph, and I lost a severe amount of stamina. I never allowed my arm to heal, however I was still a dominant pitcher in the league.

After that season, I gave up on baseball I figured my arm was shot, and I focused on other things, such as weight lifting. However about 3 weeks ago I was watching the Little League World Series and I got inspired to throw again, I threw with my dad and my fastball was harder then ever, it exploded I would say it picked up 10-15 mph from my sophomore year, it was so fast my dad couldn't catch me and he had done so for the past 12 years. I found that my college was having open tryouts Sep. 9th and am thinking of trying out.

I do not look like a typical pitcher, i am 6%26quot;1, 240 pounds i basically look like a football player, since i bulked up a lot, which i think has added to my fastball velocity. I檓 just thinking when i go to try out everyone will being throwing harder then me and I will realize I am nothing special. I have never been clocked so my speed remains a mystery which is a large influencing factor, since everyone always asks me how hard i throw. I guess my arm has that wow factor.

Thank you for reading and any feedback will be greatly appreciated.Am i good enough to play D1 baseball?
I just went to the Mid-West Baseball Coaches Clinic this off season. I heard many College coaches speak. I will share what was said about recruiting a player and more specifically a pitcher.

University of St. Louis Head Coach Darin Hendrickson

%26quot; We are looking for these four things in this order...1. Command 2.Movement 3.Change Speeds 4. Velocity%26quot; He said he asks himself these questions when he goes to see(scout) a guy. Is this guy a college pitcher? Is he projectible? Is his body developing? Has his fastball made strides? What kind of secondary stuff does he have? Whats his make-up? Is he a competitor or is he soft? Can he field his spot? Is he a natural athlete? Does he have a repeatable delivery? What kind of arm action does he have?

He said the SEC is filled with guys who are Lefty and top out at 83-85 mph. They only throw 3 pitches but they can throw them all for strikes. They are Sat. starters.(2 in the rotation)

And lastly, I heard this from every coach at the clinic.... If a kid bad mouths his H.S. coach like.... My coach has me bunt too much or my power 's would be better or something along those lines..... they are no longer interested. Too many talented players with the right attitude to waste time on an excuse maker.

So focus on 3 pitches and a repeatable delivery. Dont be afraid to pitch to contact. Getting a guy out on the first pitch is far better than a strike out . Your stats wont matter much if a scout is looking at you live. Get as much mound time as you can . Dont waste time with flat ground throwing or long toss. Video tape your self and watch it often. Act like you are the scout and pick your delivery apart untill it's perfect. If you throw real hard and can learn a change-up or hook, you may have a decent shot at div 1.... just remember there are literally 1000's of kids in your shoes right now.....how many of them are you willing to let out work you?Starting at a Jr College is not a bad idea.

Good Luck bro, hope this sheds some light on what you need to doAm i good enough to play D1 baseball?
i think you could play d-1 ball relearn your mechanics of your arm my grandmother can still throw a 60 mile an hour fast ball and shes 60 so shoot for the gold Am i good enough to play D1 baseball?
I dont think anyone is going to read this because they only way to know is to see you play. And that will never happen.

Well, I didn't bother reading your long-winded bio... No one wants to read a book here. After hearing you say that you only throw a 4-seamer, I immediately shook my head %26quot;no.%26quot; I play D1 baseball, and I have a pretty good FB (87-91 range). If I threw that every pitch, I'd be pulled before the 2nd inning ended. Unless by %26quot;wow factor%26quot; you mean Joel Zumaya %26quot;wow,%26quot; then I don't think you have a chance to be successful. Am i good enough to play D1 baseball?
I would doubt that a D1 team would get you. D1 teams usually look for skinny tall guys who have good speed on them. I'm not saying that they won't get you cause of you wieght, because there is some preety big guys in the majors. But if you could get into a good school anyways, try out for the baseball team maybe theyll add you as a walkon.
