How well do you think the mets would have done this past season if they were healthy?

From what I could see, Citi field isn't built for the team they have right now, healthy or not. They wouldn't have snagged a snugly fourth like they did this season, but I'm not so sure they could surpass the phillies...even though the phillies home record was deplorable in the beginning of the season, or even the braves, who had a late season stride

The mets...

They have Santana, a great pitcher, but they need at least one more guy close to that caliber, and bloop fly ball hitters, and speed...which means...no gary sheffield.

though i've always liked shef...who doesn't respect a man ballsy enough to charge the mound from first base? (i don't think anybody needs to be reminded of the shef -fausto incident)

But seriously, not only do they need to get healthy, they need to re-think their team structure, or else they won't do well in citi next year either.

Who am I to say these things? A Yankee fan.

BUT, since i'm not from NYC...and actually from the Albany area, i don't have any problems with the mets, except that they disappoint me.

My ideal world series every year is in fact, a subway series. because i want NY to dominate baseball, period. and though i lean more in a yankee direction, which stems from having gone to so many yankee games, i still want the mets to do well.

I can see why mets fans and yankees fans in the NYC area would hate each other, but for people like me, who aren't so close to the action on a regular basis, I can have pride in both teams. and i simply cannot accept mets fans who are rooting for the phillies in this world series..they are in your division, and how well you do in your own division determines if you even make it to the post season.. I am certain that if it were a RedSox Mets world series, yankees fans would be cheering for the mets. most of us would rather die than root for the sox.

Everyone keeps saying they should push the yankees fences back because the short porch in right is too short..even though the yankees hit almost as many hr away as they did at home...but i think perhaps citi field could use some adjustments too....that 415 to deep right center? what is that? thats where a lot of wright's power went out the window. and yeah i regard power as an important part of the game, but because of my yankee fan status, but because the mets hit nearly 30 fewer home runs than the Giants, who are ALL pitching and not much else.

Actually, Both new parks are actually gorgeous, and i wouldn't change a thing about them, but the mets team is not built for their park, and they need to be revamped over the next few seasons to really have an impact again.

A buddy of mine, who is a mets fan, told me that he hates the yankees because they buy their players..and yes the yankees do have the highest payroll, but the mets are 2nd in line, but the mets need to use their payroll to get players better suited for the stadium they just built...is what im saying.

I look forward to seeing the reactions of you mets fans and your disagreements with my logic, and stance on the matter.

To me, it's simply go NY, and only really %26quot;go Yankees%26quot; when they are head to head.

i realize i am all over the place too, which is due to lack of sleep and im rushing because i have get out the door in a couple minutes.

.But please, I implore you to discuss. How well do you think the mets would have done this past season if they were healthy?
They did not have the starting rotation necessary to stay close to the Phillies. But losing Reyes, Delgado then Beltran did hurt.

I think 10 games back at best.

Sheffield is no help, any player getting AB's is going to get a few hits, he will be very lucky to be playing anywhere next year. How well do you think the mets would have done this past season if they were healthy?
the Mets were looked on as being candidates to make it the world series because we acquired K-Rod and had an improved bullpen then previous seasons, which was arguably the reason we didnt make it to the postseason. But i think they had a shot at being in 2nd place if everyone was healthy.

They would have probably finished second. Well they should have, the braves were pretty good this year. How well do you think the mets would have done this past season if they were healthy?
I had them picked for third place in my pre-season picks. They're just not that good. The pitching isn't there. How well do you think the mets would have done this past season if they were healthy?

Not a Met fan--- but I will say 3rd.... 2nd tops.... seems like they have little cohesion in that locker room.
