Obviously LeBron James rise to fame and riches has allowed him to forget about where he comes from. Isn't this the same LeBron James that grew up in poverty in Akron, OH? What Marbury is doing is starting a cultural revolution. He's trying to change the game so that kids don't feel left out if they don't have a pair of $150 shoes. If LeBron wanted to be the man to be a real global icon, he would look to be something more than a puppet for Nike and become a leader like Marbury and step out and do something different that would actually aid the people that come from backgrounds similar to his own. you bring up a great point. although i think there's small caveat in that i'm sure nike wouldnt be pleased with lebron if he had said that he could imagine himself endorsing a sneaker like the starburys. money talks, unfortunately, and in this case the money comes from lebron's huge deal with nike. so it could either be its what he's obligated to say, or that he really is that way, but either way you're right in saying that court mentality doesnt necessarily translate to one's personality.How selfish is Lebron?

This is just an example of media hype. Star athletes are people too and Barkeley is right; they're not role models. So all this marketing on Lebron, guys it's a fake Lebron isn't a role model he just say or do what we and the media wants to see and hear so that he could get the publicity. Great point you make of LeBron James by the way, great on the court doesn't necessary mean great off the court and you make a great example of that. It's just peoples who thinks theses great athletes are great on the court, are great off the court, not true. Lebron James is one of the most unselfish stars i've have ever WITNESSED the only reason Marbury is endousing the STARBURYS is because he dosn't stand a chance of getting a real endoursment like NIKE... and another thing I do play ball about 3-5 times a week and if you where the suck burys you will have blister and your foot will fall off after about 3 days... The Lebrons are a great shoe and if you can't afford them then get a job you lazy dumb a s s . And as for the forgetting about where he comes from HE has rebuilt just about every park and basketball court in that hell hole and not to mention HE payed to have a NEW football feild built @ ST. MARY's high school where he attened. And just another inside scoop, LEBRON has walked it to local stores in Akron and told the manager that he will pick up the grocery tab for any single mother that come through the line today and has done that on more than one occation. And by the way he was only going 100 mph. not 150... Marbury is such a great leader and so unselfish that his whole team hates him and the NY knicks are stuck with him because his salery is so high so who is the selfish one???
