My Xbox 360 elite and its care please help.?

I have just this very second ordered an Xbox 360 Elite. I got it for a killer 197 GBP plus a free FIFA 10. Now I know from my observations that xbox 360's are god for 1 year and then they start giving you problems. I want to know how to keep mine in optimum performance. I know once in a while I need to take the top off and clean all the dust out and off the fan ventilators. But what else can I do to help it?

What are the best ways of keeping it alive and the things to keep it safe. Also Im 100% Noob on Xbox live this is my first xbox probably my last till the next set of consoles come out. Any advise on Xbox live any tips. Whats the minimum internet speed you need to have to play xbox live? My current internet is 54 mbps will that be enough or should I get an internet upgrade?

How often should you check the xbox for the dust?

any game sugestions. I cna have gears of war 1 or 2 (I KNOW IT IS SO CRAPPY!!!!!!!!!) coz parents saw an add and they say its too violent. I want some like first person shooters that are not too graphic like Ill be getting Halo: ODST so that one is not so bad. Anything else? I like games like Firstperson shooters and the new dbz I dont mind them. I hate sport games and I know you may be thinking then why you getting fifa? Well I couldnt change it lol. Ok im going to answer these as short as i can:

1: Internet: Your INTERNET connection will be fine if your the only one on it

2: Dust : i do mine every 2-3 months but thats cause i have a cover over the top if i took it off i would do it every month just to be sure. or u can get a exterior cooler

3: Games: COD 6 MW2, Fallout 3 (if u like a little rpg added) Oblivion, Forza Motorsport 3 is good if you like racing games.

You really don't have to clean out that often. I have had mine for over a year and I haven't cleaned it once and haven't had any problems with it. Just be careful while your playing and not knock it over. Besides that really you shouldn't have to worry that much about it. Xbox live isnt that hard to deal with so I am pretty sure you wont have any problems there. If you like shooting games besides the Halo series go for something like Call of Duty....My Xbox 360 elite and its care please help.?
