How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?

Hey, I have a q6600 in my computer which came standard from a computer from futureshop about 14 months ago. It is paired up with an 8800gt. I have rivatuner and and speedfan. The gpu fan default was set to 30% but i changed it to 95% becuase the card would be very hot at idle. Even with this fan speed, after an hour or so of playing crysis or warhead, the temp goes to 90C and i get a message saying the game has to closet. Similarly with the cpu, the temps are aroudn 70C at idle and around 85 at load (the core 0,1,2,3) in speedfan. Is this normal? and if its not, how do i lower it?

ThanksHow hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
listen i have exact same thing here q6600 but i asked a perfessional guy he told me what to do

first of all we need to buy a good CPU cooler

because ur cdu temp should be 45 when it go to 60 is normal 70 is harmfull but 90 is unblivble u should turn it off cuz it hurt ur cpu and ...

download program speedfan to see ur temp directly

second

we need to buy a water cooling for whole system cuz that make all system cool

let me tell u something i am sure ur cpu fan didnt install correctly check it i mean press it it shouldnt move even small moveask some one who know to fit it for u.

any way tomorrow i am going to buy those cooler i told u How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
Your video card should go up to 120c max max before you have any problems with it. Your processor on the other hand should be max idle @ 40c, this is very bad.

Take out your heatsink and reseat it, make sure you apply thermal paste properly and that the fan is in. You will shorten the life span if it stays idle like this.

Idle should be 40~c and in use up to ~75c.How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
That is definitely NOT normal i have a q6600 i built my computer myself, I experienced the same problem with my cpu running 80s 90s but i found out that when i installed the heat sink/fan i forgot to remove a plastic cover from that area where it contacts with the cpu. that might be the problem. and with your 8800gt it shouldn't run that hot, do you have dust build up inside your computer is so that could be part of the problem.
