How can I make my laptop run smoothly again?

Ok, here goes...I bought an hp g-series laptop...new. Three months later upgraded to windows 7. This was after microsoft employee assured me my laptop was compatible. Well it wasn't! Surprise! Anyway after freezing and shutting down, overheating for months, hp figured out it was my os. So I restore to factory settings, and win. vista. Now the thing is slower then when I bought it. Everything is freezing and fire fox keeps crashing. I've run the virus scan...nothing.

I figured it would be the same as when I bought it, it's not. It took hp 9 months to figure out the problem, they even changed the fan and battery. Of course that did not help.

So basically is there some kind of program I can run to speed the darn thing up? I've already updated the thing...I may have to send it back in...hooray! First I wanted to check for any suggestions that you guys know work!

Thanks so much! How can I make my laptop run smoothly again?
I would download and run CCleaner to clean out the junk files, and the system registry. The program itself will ask you if you want to back up the registry before cleaning it, please do make a backup just in case. Also another thing you can try is deleting the old system restore points and making a fresh one, sometimes that can recover tons of hard drive space that is used up due to multiple restore points. Hope this helps you out some.

Your PC is constantly reading and writing to a registry while you work, or while you are playing games, on it. This all happens in the background without you even noticing. When your PC was new, this was no problem, but the longer you have your computer, the more programs you install on it and the more the registry becomes bloated and damaged. This is the reason that your PC is running slower and might crash all of a sudden without warning. Your computer needs to work hard to go through all the registry bloat, or it might simply crash if it comes across a faulty entry.A registry cleaner will scan and repair your registry.Frequent maintenance using a registry cleaner is crucial to make your computer go faster.I should like to commend Registry Easy http://best-way-to-improve-pc-performanc to you !
