I built up my computer what price would you pay for it?

a dell gx260

okay i bought it for $150

and at first it couldnt run vista so heres what is did...

i chaned the 512mb ram to 1.22 gb

overclocked the cpu from 1ghz to 2ghz

put a bigger cpu fan in my computer to keep it at 45 degrees celcius

changed the graphics from 8mb onboard to an ati radeon 1gb

overclocked the graphics card from 700 mhz to 750mhz on gpu

and memory on graphics from 400 to 450mhz

put a wirless card with a speed booster on there

changed monitor from 70's monitor to 19inch 2006 flat screen

changed the speakers from monitor to 5.1 logitech surround sound

and put a flat hp keyboard and laser mouse on it

all together ive spent arund 300 to 400 dollars on hardware

how much do you think its worth cuz im thinking about selling

i was thinking atleast $400

i mean this took some timeI built up my computer what price would you pay for it?
Probably $250.... cause of the grphics card....

Other than that seem like your running a Pentium 3 CPU (1GHz?) or somethin'

Replce the motherboard and CPU and upgrade the RAM to 2GB.... shouldn't cost more than $100... A 2GHz dual core processor (Athlon X2) will cost around $25.... (they're good) a mainbaord for $25 and the RAM i like $20.... So total $60 in spendings....

After those upgrades I told you I would pay $500 or so...I built up my computer what price would you pay for it?
Dual core?

I honestly don't know if anybody wants an Over clocked computer. (Unless they are they ones that did it).

The RAM is still kind of crappy. The process is okay, but I don't know if that is dual core.

Honestly I would go and buy a 350 dell computer and then buy a graphic card (so total would be close to $500) and I probably would be getting a better computer.

So i upgraded my computer?

400 dollars upgraded 400 dollars sell equals to zero profit, don't undersell yourself , i won't sell it no less than 650 to about 850 dollars, that is almost a steal to a buyer for 400 dollars make a profit not a loss that sounds like a good upgrade you didSo i upgraded my computer?
most people i know wouldn't buy a system that had been overclocked

so in our opinion you have wasted $550 and your time

you should have spent that on a better system at the start

i'm afraid i wouldn't give you $50 for itSo i upgraded my computer?
yer i agree $380 to $400 i mean this will handle some pretty intensive tasks now providing the processor doesn't give and the motherboard tracks don't die or overload, it is a lot of power going through a smaller motherboard. maybe sell for less and make aware of risk to buyers

Decrease a motors RPM?

ok, i have a 2850 rpm motor. I am wanting to make some sort of device that can change the rpm to different speeds (2000, 1500 etc.). if u dont know what im talking about, take a fan for example. the switch can be set at different speeds. so i am wondering how i can construct a device that can do this.

thanks. JDecrease a motors RPM?
Aaron B mentioned something about %26quot;frequency converter%26quot;, this is something you dont want to do if you dont have any understanding of how it works.

Speed controlling can be done in many ways, first you need to know the types of the motor that you want to control.

Induction/phase control/ac motor/dc motor/ etc...then you can search how to control the speed..

I believe you have a standart DC motor(2850-3450RPM)/(7500-22000rpm), if so then what you need is just a variable resistor/potentiometer..that will work just fine for a simple application..

For a more precise speed controlling maybe you want to check out the PWM..Decrease a motors RPM?
You need a VFD (variable frequency drive).

If it is a solid state motor (probably is) something as simple as a light switch dimmer should do the trick. It is a cheap experiment to find this out at least.

The problem with these is that the motor speed is greatly effected by the load.

If this doesn't work you'll need a 'solid state speed controller' and make cost a little bit more.

Last but not least, if it is an Induction motor you'll need a variable frequency converter and is very expensive and a pulley system may be cheaper and easier.Decrease a motors RPM?
the speed variation can be done with two ways, either by reducing the frequency of motor which mean you have to prepare a VFD ( Variable frequency drive )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable-fr

or by using a Voith coupling between the drive and the motor called as hydraulic coupling. In this case you don't reduce motor speed but you can reduce the power output by motor because of hydraulic connection between the motor and driven machine !

  • How to reset BIOS without use of monitor?

Well... I heard that by entering your computers bios, you could slightly overclock your computer speed. So, i went in to frequency changes, and did a couple minor changes I cant really remember. now, when i turn on my computer, nothing shows up on the monitor, but all the lights on the computer are on, and the fans running. I know my monitor is working properly, and so far I have tried to reset by holding down different keys, and i even went as far as to pull my motherboards battery out for about a minute and place it back in, but the problem is still the same. My computer that is having this problem is a pentium 4, 1.8ghz processor, 512 mb of ram (one stick), ATI radion 9600 graphics card (128mb)How to reset BIOS without use of monitor?
What computer are you on right now..and does it happen to have the same bios?

Im guess you changed your adapter setting for your video card.

Does your motherboard have onboard video. Can you hook your monitor up to another plug? I'd try taking the video card out booting the computer up turning it off then putting the video card back in and seeing if that does anything.

    Thats reaching for a limp..though.

If you want to try to reset the bios ...somewhere usually near the battery is a 3 pin jumper. Move the jumper from 12 to 23. Then move it back. Your bios is now set back to factory.

Before doing this..make sure you have everything needed to get your computer running again..

You might need your video card cd..motherboard cd..ect. If you built your pc yourself.

If you can't find the jumper pulling the battery for about 30 minutes should reset it.How to reset BIOS without use of monitor?
could be a couple different things....

can you tell if the computer is actually booting? As in, does it go through the usual startup and load windows (you can usually deduce from the normal hardrive chatter, or you can give it a couple min and see if the double cntrl/alt/del gets you a reboot) If it's booting to windows you may have damaged the video card. Try throwing in a temp card from somewhere and see what that nets ya.

If it's not booting at all then it might be you clocked it too high for your chip. Depending on exactly which pentium you're running (and you didn't specify), they all have different core voltage requirements to run stable at different speeds. If the chip isn't getting enough power it will just go into dead mode.

Speaking of chips....if the chip is overheating at the new speed it can also go into dead mode. That's a standard safety trip on all the pentiums. (always a good idea to upgrade system cooling before clocking a p4)

One other common problem.....don't know what ram you're running and if it's running symmetrical clock speed with the pentium or not. You could be throwing your ram off with the new bus speed. (that would usually generate some error beep codes, but not always)

I would start by getting the cmos back to default. Pulling the battery should actually do the trick but you can also try using the jumpers to get a reset. (you'll have to look up the specs on your mobo for the correct settings on that)

You're next step would be to do a little more research on your machine specs and how to go about clocking the system properly. Lots of sites run through all the stable settings on various pentium systems. How to reset BIOS without use of monitor?
you can use the jummper setting to clear the memory bios to back to its default setting. you can see the jummper setting in the side of the battery clock of the mother board. ( See your user manual of the mother board to guide you step by step)

    27. Compared with an empty ship, will a ship loaded with plastic foam balls float higher or lower in the water? explain.

    28. Inside all vacuum cleaners is a high-speed fan. Explain how this fan causes dirt to be picked up by the vacuum cleaner.Homework help plzzzzzz?
    24. the water condenses on the mirror because the air is relatively humid. it comes from the vapor released by the water in the shower. it changes from a gas to a liquid.

    25. water pressure is the greatest at the bottom because there is pressure from the top of the iceberg as well as all of the pressure caused by the surrounding water above it.

    26. as pressure increases, the volume will try to decrease in the bubble. at a point, it cannot take it anymore and it pops.

    27. it should float lower because the plastic foam balls do not necessarily affect the outside shape or density of the outside material of the ship which helps it float.

    28. because the high speed of the fan creates low pressure around the area, the high pressure from the outside pushes the dirt to be picked up by the vacuum cleaner.Homework help plzzzzzz?

My computer seems to be overheating.?

I just built a computer for the first time, with an E8500 cpu. I felt pretty sure I had all my bases covered; however, it has shut down three times not. Not shutting down and restarting, but just shutting down.

I looked around and checked the temperature, with varying results:

Speed Fan has Core 0 and Core 1 at 69C each.

RealTemp 2.70 has both cores at 59C each.

After turning the computer off and letting it sit and cool down for maybe ten minutes (I opened the case and didn't feel any residual or radiating warmth anywhere inside), I restarted it into BIOS, and under PC Health, it lists %26quot;System%26quot; at 39C and %26quot;CPU%26quot; at 91C, and this is within a minute or so of turning it on.

The warmest thing in there seems to be the radeon 3870 graphics card, and I don't know how to get a reading on that.

There does seem to be a faint scent of hot plastic, but I cannot track that down either.

In addition to the cpu, power supply, and graphics card fans, there are two 120mm fans blowing in and ont 120mm fan blowing out of the case. In addition, I ran it for a while with the case open (both side walls removed), and none of these temp readings changed more than a degree.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! My computer seems to be overheating.?
you have either to much or to little thermal compound sitting under the cpu cooler fan. remove the fan assembly wipe the cpu with a tissue to remove any thermal compound apply a pea size amount reinstall the fan assembly an turn on My computer seems to be overheating.?
Yes. Below 40c is a good idle start up temperature.

ALWAYS below 75c is a good temperature when you stress the core, Any more up till 90 = throttling = shutdown. My computer seems to be overheating.?
OMG! That CPU temperature is OUTRAGEOUS! Don't turn that computer back on...already, you are smelling the CPU burning up.

Obviously, your cooling for the CPU is not working or is inadequate or wrong. Did you use THERMAL COMPOUND on the CPU when you installed the fan/heatsink to the processor? If you did not, you are burning up your CPU!!!!!

Immediately, remove the fan/heatsink from the processor, and when cool, take the CPU out. Get some thermal compound, like ARCTIC SILVER, and apply a thin coating to the processor. Put the fan/heatsink unit back on and try it then. I bet you see a significant drop in temps.

The temp of that processor shouldn't be over 45 - 50 C at the most!My computer seems to be overheating.?
It would appear you may not have installed your CPU heatsink correctly as your CPU temperature is far too high (it shouldn't be any higher than 60c at the most ideally).

Ensure that the heatsink is secured correctly and does not move about when positioned on the CPU.

Make sure you have applied thermal paste or a thermal pad onto the CPU before adding the heatsink. If using thermal paste ensure you have not applied too much - you should apply a pea-sizea amount and spread it evenly across the CPU so that there is a thin layer - too much paste can cause overheating. My computer seems to be overheating.?
Jim has a pretty good answer up there but I thought I would inquire as to what kind of heat sink you have on your CPU. If it's the stock Intel heatsink, then it should already have a little square patch of heatsink compound on there and you shouldn't apply more. Too much heat sink compound can be just as bad as no heat sink compound.

Assuming you are using an Intel heatsink specifically designed for your CPU (IE it came boxed with it), then you probably didn't attach it firmly enough to the motherboard. The heatsink should be firmly attached with absolutely no wiggle room.My computer seems to be overheating.?
Did you remember to put thermal %26quot;glue%26quot; under the CPU heat-sink?

Another thing to check is that all the fans are blowing the right way... might sound silly, but if you have a fan in the front of the case and a fan in the back, and they're both blowing %26quot;in%26quot;, they're opposing one another and there is a dead zone right in the middle... just about where you need lots of air movement.

In my 2004, it's located behind the glove box. Push in on both sides of the glove box to pull it out, and you may or may not have a screw you'll see on the right. There's a black cover that unclips easily enough. Pull out the old one and put the new one in. There's a more detailed description in your owner's manual.

Consequences of lighting on electrical appliances and other fire-related questions?

    Hi,

My newly purchased house was struck by lightning 3 days after I moved in. The lightning started a fire in the gas fireplace, and this fire propagated to the basement. The electrical system was also damaged. The main electrical panel “blew up” as well as some electrical outlets. In the wall below where the lightning struck, some electrical wires have been cut in two. Other visible damage includes holes done in the roof and walls by firefighters who wanted to ensure fire was not propagating. And, also very present is the smell of smoke.

I’m now dealing with my insurance company and contractor to have the construction repaired, and applicable electrical equipment and appliances replaced. I’m left with many questions and would very much appreciate guidance.

Here are some of my questions:

    1. What items in a house will retain the smell of smoke even if they are not burnt? For instance, should I insist that all insulation in the walls be changed? Will rough wood (not varnished) retain the smell of smoke?

    2. The embedded ceiling lights in my house do not seem damaged based on a visual inspection. Since no electricity is available in the house at this time, I have no means to validate they are still functional. Assuming they are, are there risks in keeping these equipments? Should I insist that they all be changed to avoid future malfunction of the equipment, or fire hazards?

    3. Similarly, all of the equipment below in my house does not show any sign of burning or electrical “explosion”, but I am concerned with how safe they will be once they are put back into operation. I am also afraid they may stop working properly after a while. Would someone please have advice on the risks involved in using these equipment if they have been submitted to a high voltage deflagration? Are there items you recommend be systematically replaced?

    a) kitchen fan and bathroom fan

    b) electrical heaters (Convect-air type)

    c) wall-mounted air conditioning unit

    d) speakers embedded in the ceiling

    e) various electronic devices to control lighting intensity, ceiling fan speed, etc.

    f) home alarm system (electronic control panel, movement sensors and door position sensors)

    4. Cables for TV, for telephones, and for speakers, as well as network cables were wired throughout the house. Since most walls are currently still closed, I cannot asses if these wires are burnt. Say they look intact, what should be done? Is it worth testing these wires, and if so, how is the testing to be done? Or since most walls will have to be opened anyways, is it just as well to replace all wires? If a wire still transmits the signal, but has been partially damaged by excessive voltage, what could be the consequences in the long term?

    5. Can anyone recommend websites, institutions or others that could provide information?

Again, all answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!Consequences of lighting on electrical appliances and other fire-related questions?
    1) Yes. Yes. Yes.

    2) If there has been a fire, there are always risks. It wouldn't hurt.

    3) Again, if there has been a fire, there are always risks.

    a) Anything with a motor should be replaced.

    b) Since it's metal on top of copper, yes. Insist that all heaters be replaced.

    c) Again, it's metal on top of copper, yes. Replace the A/C units

    d) Speakers don't pose a fire hazard as they are very low voltage.

    e) Yes. any electronic devices should be replaced as smoke can and will cause problems. Now or later.

    f) Same as e.

    4) These cables can be tested with

    http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr…

It will tell you if the connections have gone bad.

To test the insulation of any wires, you will need a

    http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/fluke/…

    Or equivalent.

Which sends out about 1000 volts through the wires and reads the results to tell you if the copper or insulation has been compromised.

I hope your insurance company isn't giving you a hard time with rebuilding your house. Good luck in all you do and may God bless.Consequences of lighting on electrical appliances and other fire-related questions?
    1. Anything that is porous and exposed to the smoke will retain smoke smell and will be difficult to remove.

    2. Based on the damage, the insurance company should pay for an electrician to verify all the existing fixtures are still safe.

    3. You are best to invest in a %26quot;whole house%26quot; surge protection device. These are installed at the panel and cost between $200 and $600. This will protect devices that are not normally plugged into a surge strip. Devices that can be plugged into a surge strip should continue to be plugged into them. Buy surge protection strips with monitor LEDs on them. For higher sensitivity or expensive equipment, invest in surge protection strips with a guarantee. (will pay to replace the damaged items)

The home alarm system is usually self checking and will show a trouble code if damaged.

    4. If you can find an electrician to perform a Megger test (high voltage, low current test to verify the integrity of the insulation). Network cables can be tested. Again, these tests should paid for by the insurance company. If the walls are going to be opened, and your insurance company is agreeable, you can replace the wires. If the wires test ok but you still do not feel comfortable, you will have to replace them at your cost. A wire that has been partially damaged can be tested to verify the damage and it should be replaced. A loss of signal integrity is the consequence. There are also in-line surge suppression devices for RG-59/RG-6 and CAT-6 (and lower) cable.

After that, it acts as if its overheating. It stumbles, sputters and stalls out all the time. I have replaced fuel filter, egr valve, cleaned TB, tune up, even repaired faulty ground conn to battery, TPS. Car has a 3.0 w/ elec ign, so timing isn't adjbl. Also if I can get on the freeway and get some air to it, runs fine. Hesitation when throttle is applied. doesn't overheat (digital gauges) and fan is working properly. Coolant recently changed. You say it acts like it is overheating, but it DOESN'T actually overheat?

The symptoms you describe for the performance sounds to me like a MAF sensor intermittent failure or un-metered air somewhere.

Have you retrieved any codes after it acts up? you can do this without a scanner.

...and scroll down below the descriptions of the trouble codes for the procedure. Follow it closely and remember that the codes will display three times each in order, then repeat. When you get the second %26quot;12%26quot;, you have them all.

Then refer to the descriptions for the circuit to address.

REMEMBER-----%26gt; You are addressing a circuit or system, not necessarily a specific component. Diagnose the whole circuit.

The most likely cause is a bloated registry which has become the home for all kinds of useless bits and pieces of data. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. i know i did one before this but i changed it a lot and i was wondering if it was any better?

    Carlisle.

She had asked me to do it, to help him live. I was alone, in need of a companion. His mother had passed away and nobody would pay enough attention to realise he was missing. August 18th, it was in the height of the Spanish Influenza epidemic and people were dying every minute. He was dying also and if i did not help him when i did he would have soon followed his mothers and fathers footsteps.

I strode into the west hospital wing, sliding my arms through my white jacket just as another day was ending. Twilight is the safest time of day for my kind and so I had chosen to take the night shifts. Being heavily greeted as usual by the nurses and other patients, I took the old stairwell to the top level. Sighing heavily, I realised many new patients had been sent here during the day as a few hundred had passed away. It was part of mortal life to die and I could not escape the fact that many would not come out of this epidemic alive. I put on a welcoming smile as I walked past the crowded wards until I came to a large wooden door with a big black ??on the front, telling me it was my assigned ward. Opening the door a familiar smell of detergent still hung limply in the stuffed room. The ward was long, with around forty beds closely shoved next to each other, the influenza wasn檛 getting any better and we only had limited spaces available. The walls which were once a newly painted white were now fading into an unpleasant dirty yellow and the floors were in need of cleaning. These conditions were not the best, but that was not my worry. Many of my patients were seriously ill, and in all my years of studying medicine it pleased me no more than to cure them.

Sweat glistened as it rolled down the pale cheeks of the boy. His name was Edward Mason and he was just 17. With his rich forest green eyes closed, his limp body lay motionless on the bed. Damp with sweat, his hair was a rusty bronze, messy and greasy. Edward had many of his mothers?features; her perfect structure was strangely built in to her son. He was beautiful and it was clear that he was her son. Quiet groans frequently emerged from his fragile lips. I couldn檛 just stand there and watch this innocent boy die. He had his whole life in front of him, but it was stolen, just as my whole human existence was taken away from me. The decision had to be made now. Every second, he was slipping closer into unconsciousness.

I acted on instinct that second. I quickly scanned the dirty white room, looking for anybody who would be paying attention. I drew an ugly patterned curtain around his cubicle for privacy .Of course nobody would come in. The would think he was dead already, so I took a step closer to the boy and held his warm face in my stone cold grasp. He did not fight or try to get away from my touch. Instead he welcomed the cool feeling of my palms; too exhausted to even try to talk he just opened his eyes and gave me a thankful look. I closed the inches from his neck to my lips. All these centuries of teaching myself how to control my vile hunger for human blood could all be wasted, I could lose myself, if I lost control for just one second?br>
I knew I could do it, I controlled my thirst for many years and the once sweet and tempting smell of human blood did now not affect me. This wasn檛 about me anymore. I slowly opened my lips, took a breath and bit down into his flesh. His pulse was slow but the blood was still flowing warm and luscious. His pulse violently stuttered and increased as the venom was taking action, slowly changing him from mortal to immortal. As my venom flowed silently into his bloodstream he writhed and screamed in agony. Edward was burning from my venom and I had to get him out of herend fast.

Ripping the curtain away, I grabbed the boy and quickly carried him protectively in my arms. Running at human speed through the corridor, many concerned eyes fell on the struggling body in my arms, I just kept on going. I needed to get to the back building where a window opened onto a forgotten alleyway. When I was out of human eyes, I broke into a full run. Dashing down the stairs and whipping through doors. His heart rate was slowing but I needed to keep him breathing. Reaching the back of the hospital, I thrust the stiff window open, cradled Edward in my iron cage grip and jumped. With a soft thud we landed on the stone ground. He was confused and in agony.

Still cradling Edward, we ran through the night. The tight streets were empty but I could hear the scuttle of rats in the alleyways, the quiet dripping of the nearby drains and the loud and drunken laughs muffled by walls. A harsh scent of alcohol and tobacco fumes burned my nostrils as we passed pubs. Eventually, we reached the edge of the dense forest. Edward檚 expression was pained and he could not keep quiet for long. No matter, we were nearly at my house. The place I didn檛Twilight fan fiction 2?

How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?

I'm in a new dorm at my college this year. It's been two days and I'm miserable. I won't change dorms - the location and size of the rooms are wonderful.

I have a fan blowing on me from a few feet away at full speed. (And two other fans going in the room.) It keeps me from sweating from the heat, but it doesn't cool me down. By tomorrow I'll have this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/custome

Which cools you down (because of frozen water) only directly at the face.

The cold showers are even lukewarm. Is there any nifty way to cool down, perhaps without using ice and cold water, in a building such as this? How do other people get through it?How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?
Keep in mind that not only are you miserable because of the heat, you are miserable because you are back in school, in a new place, and not %26quot;feeling%26quot; at the top of your game. Mental misery seems to intensify physical misery!!!

I would suggest hanging out in the Library or other spots on campus that DO have a/c.... find some friends to hang out with and get your mind off of the heat...

At night, try stripping down to cotton shorts/tees and just a light sheet... with the fans and the cooler, it might be a bit better....

You can also help the problem by making sure the windows aren't letting in too much sunshine... keeping the room dark will help keep it cool... florescent lighting heats up a room!!!

Just remember - it will pass... if you occupy your mind with something else, the oppressive heat will soon be a minor inconvenience....

Be sure to drink LOTS of water tho... staying hydrated helps in the heat.... keep your hair up, your spirits up, and focus on staying positive!!! Just think of the stories you can share with your dorm-mates.How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?

Try a spritz bottle (you can find them real cheap at places like K-Mart and Wal-Mart) and then after filling it with water put it in the fridge if there is one in your dorm. I have found this to be helpful sometimes when there is no air conditioner. How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?
I work in a building with no A/C, it has been 3 years now...and fans really are your only good alternative. Quite honestly, you will start to acclimate to it and it won't be as bad after awhile.

I feel for you though, I do get to come home and sleep in A/CHow to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?
I know what I used to always use to cool me down was wrap a cold towel around my neck...that way I could occassionally use it to wipe my face also and keep my body temp down. How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?
I know you said without using ice, but if you get a bad of crushed ice %26amp; put it infront of the fan it helps it make it cooler (dont' take the ice out of the bag. I did this at work once %26amp; it actually made a difference. Just make sure to put the bad of ice in a bowl so it doesn't leak while it melts. How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?

I live in a apartment with no air because the owner won't fix it and in Kentucky you can't brake your less or refuse to pay for that so all summer i have had no air. you really do need to keep cool for medical reasons a few days ago i woke up with a rash and when i went to the doctor he said that it was a fungus. that everyone had fungus and bacteria on there body and that the heat can allow it to grow. the best way to keep cool is to get two fans put one in a window or door facing in and the other one in a window or door facing out the one will push air in while the other pulls air out and that makes a better breeze but it is not a air conditioner and pray for rain because it cools everything down. How to cool down in a non-air conditioned building?
    Plenty of fans.

    Problem with my PC overheating.HELP!!!?

hi, well my PC power supply is at 127 degrees celcius even when im just searching the web, its on that now. i have this temp from speed fan and PC wizard, even though ive just turned PC on 5 minuts ago and it was at 80 degrees at switch on. So its pretty damn hot, even though its feels freezing cold :S confusing i know, its a brand new power supply cos i bought it yesterday, i bought it because i thought my other one might be broke cos it was showing me the same temps. my processor is 31 degrees celcius my motherboard is 32 and my GPU is 42 and my core is 18. so i really dont no whats wrong with it. if i even try to play a game the PC just turns off within seconds, like complete power loss. ive been trying to find the answer to this for 2 months now and its driving me crazy, ive replaced the motherboard, harddrive,RAM sticks,Processor, powersupply and graphics card. so im completely baffled, all i can think is that its a bios problem but i have no idea how to change temps in the bios and i dont no how to underclock or anything im a PC noob lol so plz does anyone have some sort of idea what could be going wrong. there are 3 large size fans in case, one on front, one on back and one on side. PSU fan is spining and blowing cold air out, ive checked for dust and its all clear. oh and on speed fan for like half a second the temp 127degrees flicked to -66 degrees real quick for a sec. thanx plz try work this out for me. thanx

From a quick google search others are having issues with that psu. Atrix isnt exactly a well known brand and when buying a psu its generally a good plan to get a brand thats decent. Whats the exact model of your psu? Its possible it doesn't have enough amps for your setup. I didnt even think you could get a temp reading off your psu, are you sure thats what your reading? If it feels cool to the touch and the air isnt hot as hell blowing out of it then maybe its a false reading.

You may need to adjust BIOS memory settings. The temperatures you quoted don't seem to be accurate.Problem with my PC overheating.HELP!!!?
It isn't any of your computers hardware causing your problem. All the temps except for the PSU are normal. I know you realize that any metal object 127C is going to fry your hand. You said you replaced your PSU. Did you turn the fan to the inside of your case, and not facing the top of the case? That is my only guess as to the PSU overheating so much. Yes if a PSU is getting that hot, it willl just cut off, not sure why it hasn't burnt out before now though...

You don't need to underclock your CPU, that isn't your problem 31C is normal for a 6000 CPU with a factory AMD heatsink...

That PSU name brand is very weak, I have never heard of it. Check the specifications on the side panel of it. Look and see how many amps it has on the +12Volt rail or rails. Your system shouldn't need over 25amps total, but if you only have 25amps, it might have fouled the rail or rails out in the PSU. Many 700Watt PSU's are going to have 30 amps at least, but being a no name brand, would make me wonder. Just like Wattage, wattage is one thing that the PSU manufactures have been able to distort for years now, like saying 700Watts, when actually ANY 700Watt PSU on the market really only gets and average of 650W at best... Not saying Wattage is your issue at all, yours should actually run on 400W easily, just needs the amperage of 25A...Problem with my PC overheating.HELP!!!?
I have read reviews that the Atrix power supply gets extremely hot....It is not very good as it is cheaply made....If you bought a good name brand unit like Corsair,OCZ or Antec it would probably solve your situation....

Speed fan is not always accurate either......

here are 3 good power supplies I would recommend......

    Antec----http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

    Corsair-------550w------http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

    OCZ------550w fatalilty-------http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

those are all 550w units with 2--6 pin PCIe power connectors....they are very good and are twice the quality of the atrix power supply you have now....these will run your 9600gso w/no problems.....

  • How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?

Hey, I have a q6600 in my computer which came standard from a computer from futureshop about 14 months ago. It is paired up with an 8800gt. I have rivatuner and and speedfan. The gpu fan default was set to 30% but i changed it to 95% becuase the card would be very hot at idle. Even with this fan speed, after an hour or so of playing crysis or warhead, the temp goes to 90C and i get a message saying the game has to closet. Similarly with the cpu, the temps are aroudn 70C at idle and around 85 at load (the core 0,1,2,3) in speedfan. Is this normal? and if its not, how do i lower it?

ThanksHow hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
listen i have exact same thing here q6600 but i asked a perfessional guy he told me what to do

first of all we need to buy a good CPU cooler

because ur cdu temp should be 45 when it go to 60 is normal 70 is harmfull but 90 is unblivble u should turn it off cuz it hurt ur cpu and ...

download program speedfan to see ur temp directly

    second

we need to buy a water cooling for whole system cuz that make all system cool

let me tell u something i am sure ur cpu fan didnt install correctly check it i mean press it it shouldnt move even small moveask some one who know to fit it for u.

any way tomorrow i am going to buy those cooler i told u How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
Your video card should go up to 120c max max before you have any problems with it. Your processor on the other hand should be max idle @ 40c, this is very bad.

Take out your heatsink and reseat it, make sure you apply thermal paste properly and that the fan is in. You will shorten the life span if it stays idle like this.

Idle should be 40~c and in use up to ~75c.How hot can my CPU and GPU temp be?
That is definitely NOT normal i have a q6600 i built my computer myself, I experienced the same problem with my cpu running 80s 90s but i found out that when i installed the heat sink/fan i forgot to remove a plastic cover from that area where it contacts with the cpu. that might be the problem. and with your 8800gt it shouldn't run that hot, do you have dust build up inside your computer is so that could be part of the problem.

    Computer over heating? CPU done?

    Hello,

As summer has come along it seems that my computer is runninghotter than usual. i have the E8400 core 2 duo at stock speeds. Last week i could run the computer for probably 15 minutes. When suddenly it would just crash, with no BSOD, complete power down. I credited it to heat because it has happened to me last summer. Oddly now I cant even keep the computer to stay on for more than a minute. As it boots I go into bios to check temperatures and the such. At first the cpu would be near 60 celcius, (i know that is dangerous) and would promptly crash. But it seems even after long cool-down periods it is crashing at 40 degrees. If I try to start the computer directly after a crash it will come on for no more than seconds and crash again. This is all very confusing because normally my cpu could stand up to 60 without crashing, now crashing at 40? I have cleaned out all the dust, reinstaled my heatsink (the stock one) nothing seems to be changing. One note i wanted to mention was that my fan speed is about 2100 rpm. I was thinking that maybe the computer is crashing because the temperature is rising too rapidly, or that the fan isn't staying at the minimal speed. I sem to recall seeing a minimum cpu fan speed of 2500 rpm. If anyone might shed somelight as to whether it seems that heat is the problem or my procesor is fried it would help a lot.

p.s. New heat sink is on the way in a couple days if the problem s not reolved by then, ill keep you posted on how the new heatsink is affecting the problem.

Thanks a lot : )Computer over heating? CPU done?
60 degrees Celsius isn't dangerous. I have a Corei7, and my Tjunction max is 95 Celsius. The Tjunction max for your E8400 is probably 100 Celsius. (Tjunction max is the temperature where the CPU shuts itself down to stop overheating issues.) You should probably run your memory at stock speeds too, sometimes underclocking can pose issues.

Try resetting your CMOS (my motherboard has internal and external buttons to do this). If yours doesn't, remove the CMOS battery and pop it back in.

I have an EVGA motherboard too, and their customer support is AMAZING. They can offer you specific advice on what to do, and I'd trust them more than anyone on this website. Call them up at 1-888-880-EVGA. Support is available 24/7 free of charge. And if your motherboard has a lifetime warranty (most do), and they determine the motherboard is at fault, they'll help you repair/replace it free of charge (minus shipping).

Good luck on resolving your issue.Computer over heating? CPU done?
    The solution is just simple.

Throughly clean your CASE and CPU and ensure that the Heatsink is clean with no left out heat sink paste. put the heat sink paste sufficiently by cleaning the cpu with cotton and IPA.

99 Corolla, 130K miles, manual shift. What maintenence should I request or decline?

My corolla is in need of some attention and I just got a new job an hour away. It is in good running condition, but seems to be burning oil. What I mean is that it doesn't leak, but I have to add at 2 quarts every 1500 miles. Does burning oil literally mean that it is burning up and does it disappear? Its this harming my car? How can I prevent it?

Last, I need to make some repairs and do maintenence.

The exhaust is loud in the front end at lower speeds and makes a small backfire popping sound when I accellerate. I also need to fix the fan on my heater/AC, and the washer fluid doesn't spray.

I'll change the oil too. Should I get a tune-up or change the timing belt? What else should I do?

How to connect a 2 stage furnace to 1 stage thermostat?

The furnace thermostat quit working in my grandmother's vacant home and I needed an emergency solution to prevent frozen water pipes.

I bought a cheap thermostat at Wal-Mart just to get by till I have more time to do the repair correctly. After connecting it up, I found that the air flow to be very low. There was no place to connect a couple of the wires.

After getting home I did some research and found that the bad thermostat is for a 2 stage furnace, whereas the one I bought is for a single stage. And I had wired the fist stage of the furnace to the new thermostat, thus explaining the low output.

I don't know anything about dual stage furnaces. What I do know is that I don't want a low heating mode with a slow fan speed because the ducts aren't insulated and I just know most the heat will leak out before the air reaches the registers. Instead I want fast, forceful heating.

My question is this: Can I just connect the 2nd stage wire from the furnace to the thermostat in place of the 1st stage wire and be done with it? Will that cause problems for the heater to always be run in stage 2?

BTW, I've read that there is some timer setting on the furnace %26quot;module%26quot; that can be used in my situation. But I'd rather leave it set the way it is now so that I don't need to remember to change it back after I've installed the permanent 2-stage thermostat later on.How to connect a 2 stage furnace to 1 stage thermostat?
Leave it the way you have it wired. In a 2 stage, the blower runs at a lower speed until the module senses that it needs to increase the speed a little to meet the demand. It takes a lot less force to move hot air verses cold air. The hot air will not leak out of the ducts once it starts flowing it will keep moving. Sounds like you did a good job for your grandma. Hope this helps

Anyone that knows about graphics cards?

I have a PNY 9800 GT and EVERYTHING is updated, I know how to use Rivatuner and I'm quite experienced with computers, but I've had this problem with my GPU. When I play a video game for about 5 - 10 min, my temperature goes to about 60C (using GPU-Z) and my direct control (riva) starts going back to 35% fan speed (thus it keeps getting hotter while I'm gaming) and stays stuck until my GPU has cooled off somewhat and then I can control it again and change it back to 100% with no problem until I start playing a game again. I've heard of this problem with 8600's, but never found a solution that worked. Please help with a solution?

NOTE: I've tried different drivers for my card, different versions of rivatuner, and many different things. I also used the power user section of rivatuner with no luck at all. ALSO, I do not have ntune on my PC, I'm aware that it can cause problems when using rivatuner as well.

Since I have a Dell motherboard, could it be the problem?

I would greatly appreciate any ones help.Anyone that knows about graphics cards?
You need a good cooling system ! Try changing your fans, get bigger ones.

  • What electrical components should i USE?

    I am making my own power regulator by using a Computer power Supply...The output its 3.3V (30.0 A), 5V (30.0A) and 12V(15 A) .

    1. I wanted to put LED as an indicator for all the 3 output, but i know that the max Voltage for a LED is 5V, and if i use a resistor for 5V and 12V to change to voltage suitable for the LED, it will cut down the output and i cannot power up my 5V or 12V things.( I never combine all the power supply cable output to, but they are separate.)( Around 12 output so have to use 12 switch)

    2. I wanted to put a variable resistor for the 12V(15A) output to control the voltage such as fan speed or motor speed, but when i test run by using a 50K惟 variable resistant to make a test run, the variable resistor come out smoke and burns.

Please teach me and tell how to put the fixed resistor for the LED and the correct variable resistor to control the voltage? And the safety precaution.

THANKSWhat electrical components should i USE?
Both your LED and fan speed questions point to a common problem, you are completely ignoring both the current and power dissipated. Trying to do this by thinking about voltage alone is pointless.

    Starting with the LED situation:

%26gt;teach me and tell how to put the fixed resistor for the LED and the correct variable resistor to control the voltage?

Rule one: Always design LEDs based on current, not on voltage!

%26gt;but i know that the max Voltage for a LED is 5V,

Unless you bought some oddball LED with a resistor built in, I don't think so.

A common 5mm LED is usually driven at about 20 ma (0.02 amps). The forward voltage depends on the color, for a green LED it will be about 2.2 volts.

There are plenty of LED calculators on the Internet; if you connect it between the 5 volt output and ground, you will get a resistor of about 150 ohms (2.2 volt LED @ 20ma). If the LED is too bright, increase the value of the resistor.

The 0.02 amps that the LED uses is negligible compared to the 30 amps available.

%26gt;, it will cut down the output and i cannot power up my 5V or 12V things

Not sure what you mean, but computer PS are not designed to run with zero load, you probably need to put a load ( ~10 ohm 10 watt) on the 5 volt output for it to work properly.

%26gt;I never combine all the power supply cable output to, but they are separate.)( Around 12 output so have to use 12 switch)

No idea why you would do this. The outputs are not independent. There are plenty of examples on the Internet of DIY projects similar to this. Make sure you understand that the capacitors in these supplies can store enough power to do serious damage to you even if the power supply is unplugged.

    On to the fan situation:

You need to know how much current the fan draws at 12 volts. It might be labeled on the fan, but check it with a multimeter to be sure.

For example, if the fan uses 200ma and you want to be able to drop the voltage down to 7 volts, you need a pot/rheostat of 25 ohms or a bit more that can dissipate at least 1 watt. Because of the way pots/rheostats are rated you probably want it rated at more than one watt.

    12 volts - 7 volts = 5 volts max drop needed

    P(watts) = volts X current(amps) = 5 X 0.2 = 1 watt dissipated in pot/rheostatWhat electrical components should i USE?
You can add a resistor for the LED, just take the output(s) from the point before the resistor is connected.

You need to work out the resistance - google for led resistor calculator

You need to know the power consumed by the motor or fan and chose a variable to suit. Computer fan controllers are easily available that will do this for you.

    Improve fuel economy?

Alright. So I drive a 2007 Honda Accord Coupe EX 4-cylinder with an automatic transmission and recently after a fill-up, I got 28 mpg. the driving consists of 85% highway and 15% street. I'm a bit disappointed and my ultimate goal is to get 35-40 mpg. this is how i drive:

    - since i drive an auto, i let the first gear go up to 2500 rpm. 2nd gear go up 2250 rpm, 3rd gear 2000 rpm, and then i let go of the gas pedal which drops to 1500 rpm @ 40 mph.

    - merging into freeway- 2500 rpm first gear, 2750-3000 rpm second gear, 2500 3rd gear, and gradual speed up until 65 mph @ 2100 rpm

    - i used 87 octane gas

    - i use cruise control and drive at 65mph on the freeway even if the traffic flow is going at 75 mph

    - i start braking at a far distance so gradually slow down the car rather than extremely fast braking

    - i gradually accelerate slowly and then i let the car pick up until the speed limit even if it takes a long time.

    - i warm up my car until the tachometer goes down to 1000 rpm (which takes about 30-45 seconds to do so. sometimes 1 minute)

    - the oil is pretty new. about 500 miles have been put in since the last oil change.

also i don't carry anything but myself inside the car. no cargo, heavy stuff in the trunk etc. i use the air conditioner when i am on the highway and traveling at 65mph but i keep the fan speed at its lowest. i open the window whenever i go at speeds below 45 mph to avoid using the air conditioner.

so anything i'm doing wrong here? should i go 55mph on the highway instead of 65 mph? my ultimate goal is to get 35-40 mpg in this car.

no, i do not want to add performance parts like a cold air intake to improve fuel economy.Improve fuel economy?
I own a 2007 accord as well. Mine is a sedan and the best Ive been able to get is in the low 30s including AC on.

Since yours is a coupe, yours would probably get around 35 tops. Please check out this link below for average fuel economy:

    http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.

    1) I would recommend keeping it below 2000rpms as much as you can

    2) the sweet spot for gas mileage is somewhere inbetween 55-60. Seeing as how most city streets have lower speed limits than this, this may or may not be doable for you, but the closer you get, the better.

    3) you've already got traffic figured out. Time your stoplights and try not to even brake for them. With an automatic transmission, as soon as you hit the brakes, it goes into a different mode so only applying the brakes when you need them is the best idea. People that hit the brakes once every few seconds are wasting alot of gas.

    Anyways, I hope this helps!

Good luck with your fuel mileage!Improve fuel economy?
mph makes no difference to the fuel economy. on the freeway keep your rpms low by making it to a high gear and driving in low rpms at the safe speedlimit. On the freeway set your cruise control at the lowest possible rpms for your highest gear. this will increase your fuel economy by alot. I drive a silverado and get 12 mpg. be happy ith your current fuel economy.Improve fuel economy?
    shorten warm up idle time.

accelerate a little quicker. you burn more gas accelerating, than you do when cruising. and cruise control doesn't save gas.

maintain proper tire pressure and front end alignment.

    2002 Ford Taurus Air Blower.?

My ac blower on my 2002 Ford Taurus started squeeking about a week ago, today (record high temps outside) I get in and start it up and turn on the AC and no air at all on any of the settings for the fan speed. Thinking I may need to replace the blower, can anyone tell me where it is located? How hard it is to change? Any help would be appreciated!!2002 Ford Taurus Air Blower.?
You mean you have no air at all from blower inside car? If so, check your fuse for the blower. If it is not blown then the blower motor is bad. It is under the dash on the passenger side of car. Most run around $50 for a new motor. Not too hard to change out, remove screws from box, unplug and remove blower motor.2002 Ford Taurus Air Blower.?
sounds like you condensor and cooling fan are both broken, this will be expensive, and it sounds like your not a car person so you'll have to get a mechanic to do it. I would just recommend pushing through it and role with your windows down, this could be really expensive but since it is a ford taurus probably not that bad, im not familiar enough to give you prices.(sorry)

    Help with Reason 4.0?

Hey! I'm a very new at this Reason thing, learning and Loving it. However, I have no turtorial vids or anything. I have a few questions but I wont ask them all now, however if you think you know the answers please answer with detail, and if you dont mind I will add you as a fan and then ask you more questions, in which I will give best answers too will each answered question! OK SO NOW for the first question...........how do you change the tempo/speed on the Dr. Rex Loop player...I know how to do it for the whole song and everything, but I just want to change it on the one loop......its probably something very simple....but I just cant figure it out.....pleaase help :) Thank you!!! :)Help with Reason 4.0?
I'm not an expert at Reason, but I have used it since 1.0, so I think i can help.

You can't change the tempo of the rex file in Dr. Rex, you need Recycle to edit the rex files. You CAN however send the loop %26quot;to track%26quot; then adjust the timing between the notes and the note length in your track.

The idea of the Dr. Rex is to load clips that are originally at a certain BPM but match them to your overall tempo so everything flows smoothly.Help with Reason 4.0?

    Car Heater Questions...?

Hi, I have an 03 Ford Escape with the Basic Blue to Red (cool to warm) thermostat, fan speed selector and A/C engage button. Some my friends have said that I should have the A/C engaged when heating the car. I do not see the point in this as the heater core and evaporator are separate, but this did raise some questions to me. When i have the thermostat turned to warm and i have the A/C button turned on, does the Compressor actually engage? As when I do have the A/C button turned on when thermostat is set to warm i still feel warm air coming out the vents and no change whether A/C button is turned on or off. Help would be great!

Also if any knows, I am wondering how heating works on a bus/coach with a rooftop unit. Is their a coolant line from the engine that goes up there to heat in the same way a car would or is there a reverse gear on the compressor so it works like a reverse cycle A/C??? Help appreciated again!Car Heater Questions...?
your a/c will still turn on if you have the nob in read, all the nob does is open a flap from the ac to the heater core, half way lets in half cold half hot if you put it on max ac with it on hot it is true the car will heat up faster because it will recycle hot air, on a bus it is either electric but mostly a coolant line off the engine we have a 80's model buss and it runs off coolantCar Heater Questions...?
Tell your friends they are wrong. either you want heat or cool, can't get both. Some of your more expensive cars do actually switch themselves from hot to cold in order to maintain the temp you set, but not those cars with a RED/BLUE slider bar. The bar opens and closes the gate that allows water from the engine to the heater core, how far you move it decides how much hot water gets thru.

If the A/C switch is ON, this activates the A/C clutch which will engange the compressor when cooling is needed and also will turn on the cooling fan on the radiator.

Above roof units often use a heat pump for heat.

  • My laptop has been getting overheated recently... help?

It seems that my laptop has been getting very hot recently, where the fan is.

I took it to a computer repair shop a little while ago for an unrelated problem, but I did tell him that I was also having problems with CPU spikes, in which my laptop would freeze randomly for long periods of time, sometimes up to 10 minutes, and then come back. It would happen during anything- whether I was on youtube, playing a computer game, or whether I left it sitting idle. He told me that it was getting very hot, and that my CPU was located close to the fans. I didn't have any problems for a while (he cleaned out the fan) but recently it's been getting SO hot.

It used to just get hot when I would play a huge game like the Sims3. Now, it's hot whenever. It could stay on for hours and I'd never feel heat, but now I start to after its been running for 20 minutes, and gets BOILING hot when I play the sims3. If you play the sims3, you know that you use the numbers %26quot;1 - 3%26quot; on the keyboard to change the time speed. It will get so uncomfortable from the heat that I can't hold my hand there for more than 20 minutes.

I don't really trust myself to open it up and check the fan to see if it's clogged with hair or something; we have two cats that sneak up on my desk at night, they probably sleep on my laptop! Are there any step-by-step instructions online (with pictures) that can show me how/where to open it up and clean the fan? Should I take it back to the computer repair shop? Any ideas would be helpful...

My GPU is showing 61C temperature. That's a bit a high. I don't know why though because I just assembled my computer and did not over clock/change any BIOS settings. Would it be a good idea to increase the GPU fan speed with nTune? And if so by how much?My GPU Temperature too high??
it's normal that it's 61 celcius. you can increase the fan speed it's not a bad idea. mine is also 61My GPU Temperature too high??
That's actually normal...do you organized your cable inside the case?...It would help if you have more fans blowing into the case to create a %26quot;positive-pressure%26quot; inside the case...so hot air will go outside of the case and cold-air will go into the case. Have a bigger fan would help also...instead of using 80mm fan...See if you can modify the case to fit 120mm fan. It moves much more air than the smaller fans, that in turn, it's much quieter. My GPU Temperature too high??
It's probably just fine (and it might not even be accurate).

If your computer isn't crashing or running slow don't worry about it.

Changing primary GPU on Windows Vista x64?

**** Long, well explained version ***** If you don't need/care, then skip this part and go to the bottom.

I have two graphics cards, both are crossfired HD Radeon 4850. The second graphics card is the 1GB RAM version, first one is 512MB RAM version. The first one also runs very hot and has a tendency to overheat causing a bluescreens and game crashes.

And yes, I know that switching the slots would probably fix it. However, I bought the computer at Best Buy, with the 3 year warranty. If I open up the case the warranty will void and I definitely don't want that, especially since my computer hard drives tend to burn out faster than most people's and my graphics card runs at constant 60C-70C when playing games, so I am expecting the graphics card to die within the next year.

Even using ATI Overdrive to UNDERCLOCK my first graphics card as well as boosting the fan speed to 100%, it overheats generally pretty quickly. Also depends on the game. Crysis max settings won't overheat, Source based games (Counter Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, etc) overheat slowly, but they still do. I have to set a framerate cap on Source based games to make it take around 1-2 hours for my graphics card to overheat to the point where my computer crashes.

It is sad when you can render a game at an average of 280 frames per second using your worst graphics card, and having a bluescreen causing you to either lower settings or lower frame limit to 40 and STILL bluescreen.

**** End long, explained version ****

Small version: First GPU is worse than my second (both are HD Radeon 4850, one is the newer version I guess, even same Vendor ID)

First GPU overheats very easily, even when underclocked.

How do I make it so my second GPU is used as the primary graphics card? And no, I cannot open my case. The reason why is explained in the long version, I just cannot open it.

Searching has told me to use the change main monitor option, however this seems to be disabled with Windows Vista.

Any help would be extremely appreciated. I just bluescreened playing Mount %26amp; Blade with a framerate limit of 40, because I was playing it for 30 minutes.Changing primary GPU on Windows Vista x64?
check your manuals for any troubleshooting info. also look for warranty info on the card. you may be eligible for a replacement if the hardware is defective. also check with best buy and see if those cards are covered under your warranty with them.

    Check Engine and Temp. Light?

I started my car, the engine light came on, about 2 minutes later the temp light came on and the gauge was past hot. I pulled over, popped the hood, checked coolant and oil, both were normal and engine was cool. but the fan was on.

when i turned the car back on to drive the rest of the way home, the temp guage would change with my speed (high to low and back rapidly), but the lights were still on

I bumped a higher then usual curb when i parked it, could this have caused the light to go on?

And how do i get it fixed without spending an arm and a leg. or is that not possible?Check Engine and Temp. Light?
You'll want to pull the codes and find out what threw the check engine light. Autozone will do this for free.

If the temperature was really way up past hot, the coolant should've been boiling. Since it's acting erratically, my guess is that hitting that bump might've dislodged the temperature gauge wire from the sending unit.Check Engine and Temp. Light?
not likely , the temp prob changed with speed because the faster you went the more air was flowing into radiator first what kind of car do you have you might start with thermostat waterpump, coolant temp sensor or might have a dirty radiator if u have a check engine light on it might be because the computer read a high temp

I want to make my old pc faster by changing my processor and mobo, How can I choose one thats right for my pc

I am currently running a 633 celeron, 256 memory, which is max. A 64mb video card. I already replaced the power supply with 350 or so watts so power isnt a problem. I've cut vents in my case and have an extra fan so cooling isnt an issue.

My question is how do i pick the right processor and mobo.

I want to get as fast as possible with my old e-machine.

I have also picked up a 80gb hd which i stil have to install.

Money is my biggest concern right now so less is best but I still long for great gaming, with new games. My system is basically a maxed out E-machine, But I believe with th right mods almost anything is possible. I have plenty of room for storage, and music and stuff but games play like crap. I need speed.I want to make my old pc faster by changing my processor and mobo, How can I choose one thats right for my pc
I only run a AMD 2800 with 1Gb Ram and a Gforce FX5200, and I have little or no problems with games like COD2 - BF2, any of the stuff coming out soon and I'm going to struggle but all that in an old case only cost me 拢100 by shopping around.

The quality of the graphics is not amazing but it's fine for me and with 10Mb cable I enjoy myself online without spending wads of cashI want to make my old pc faster by changing my processor and mobo, How can I choose one thats right for my pc
A 633 celeron, 256 mem, and 64 video card? You could get away with playing games from eight to ten years ago with those configs. But such games as Oblivion and Gothic 3 demands, and I mean demands! higher-line pc guts! It's because the video graphics and loading and subsequent action will slow down your machine to a crawl without a higher mem video card and especially with having only 256 memory.

To get more bang for your buck you, may just need to buy yourself a good packaged desktop (Dell Sony or HP). After the cost of the mainboard and chip, you then may need to replace the case, with means pulling out all the devices you may have. Then you may find that your %26quot;cdrom%26quot; is too slow and want DVD-Rom and a DVD-Burner, also you will need to purchase a diiferent type of memory than what your old system has. No matter if you build the system or bye the system as a package, you want to have either an AMD Athlon64 or Intel Core Solo, or better processor. You want to have at minimium 40-80GB @7200+ rpms harddrive, preferrably SATA. Memory you will need at least 1GB of DDR or DDR2 RAM. Video cards you will want either ATI Radeon or Nvidia FX, with 128MB or better. LCD Panels save on desktop space so you may want one of those, 17+ inches is good. Of course get your DVD-ROM and DVD-burner. And most important of all, buy the games for it!I want to make my old pc faster by changing my processor and mobo, How can I choose one thats right for my pc
I recommend the purchase of a new machine, you will need New RAM and video cards that are compatible with the new motherboard.

trust me upgrading an old machine is a waste of money. you can get a brand new Compaq, with warranty, customer support, monitor and all cheaper than buying parts for an old machine.

it has a belt driven fan, and im wondering how much HP id gain by switching over to electric. btw i live in colorado, so it doesent get to hot here, and we have very thin air!

its fine in the city, but on the highway its like i hvae to max out every gear to get it up to speed!

ive done all the lil changes, oil, performance air filter, plugs, plug wires, fuel injector cleaner, etc etc.

just trying to think of a couple things to free up some HPHow much HP would i gain from a 4cyl with a electric fan?
Well it's no Powerstroke Diesel, but supposedly it takes up to 50HP to run the fan on one of those... From the articles I've gathered you can see that lots of people are reporting fuel economy increases by switching from engine driven to electric fans. If you can do a %26quot;mod%26quot; that increases fuel economy it must reduce losses somewhere else so it stands to reason that there's been some horsepower that was set free.

Here's a thread where someone reports 2-2.5 MPG increase from switching to electric fan in a 4.3L V-6 S-10 pickup.

Here's an article that claims up to 17 HP and 20 Lb*ft torque can be gained by switching to an electric fan. (Flex-A-Lite dyno numbers)

Another article where they claim a 1-2 MPG increase:

An article that claims 26-30 HP gain on new V8 Ford trucks by switching to electric fan:

Here is a link to a fan kit specifically for the Ranger:

Finally, an article describing fan losses from 19-40 HP on a Chevy V8 and only 1.3 HP loss to drive an alternator at 65A. (65A at 14.4v is 936 watts. 936 watts is equal to 1.25 horsepower, so that sounds right).

After all that you know that switching to electric will free up some HP, how much is hard to say as I couldn't find any actual dyno sheets. My guess: 10-15 HP and 1-2 MPG gains. One thing to keep in mind if you do this is that you will have to upgrade your alternator because the fan will draw a lot of power when it is on (Up to or beyond 30A)!How much HP would i gain from a 4cyl with a electric fan?
That's a very hard question to answer. The horsepower drain of a fan is a function of rpm: power drain increases with the cube of RPM. However, the fan in your truck may be designed to %26quot;feather%26quot; or %26quot;freewheel%26quot; as engine RPM's increase. These techniques reduce parasitic drag.

An electric fan doesn't eliminate parasitic losses, as the power to drive the electric fan increases load on the alternator. The answer to your question is that it will make some difference, but it's hard to say how much. How much HP would i gain from a 4cyl with a electric fan?
not enough of a difference to noticeHow much HP would i gain from a 4cyl with a electric fan?
About 3 hp plus or minus 1 hp.How much HP would i gain from a 4cyl with a electric fan?
I do not think this is a worthwhile mod. It might net you 2-3 hp tops and will surely lead to other reliablity problems.

You do not say how old the car is, but I'll presume it is old and that the engine is worn out. You might be better off having a valve job done and improving the cylinder sealing if its got some miles on it.

Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?

Obviously, this topic has it's pros and cons on different point of views. When I mention physical appearance I'm talking about the overall appearance from features and look. It's no surprise that not many smaller superstars get to be pushed into the main event or hold one of the main championships in the company. I know some will say %26quot;because they're not going to be believable as champions. They're too small to become champion%26quot;. Is that because you're accustomed to the way WWE handles their superstars or is it because the bigger, the better? Alright, what if the WWE were to book a smaller superstar into looking strong and credible? Would that change how the fans look at him or her or are smaller superstars still not believable and credible no matter what? I'm sure they can have a story in the match where skill and technique (smaller superstar) beat the size and power (bigger superstar), instead of using the typical speed vs. power. It would be nice to see a much smaller superstar (this doesn't include Rey Mysterio) to be built into a main event match.

I don't mean smaller superstars as in John Morrison and The Miz. I'm talking about superstars like Evan Bourne and Jamie Noble. I've noticed Kofi Kingston has been pushed into a program with Randy Orton, but I think Kofi Kingston has that %26quot;look%26quot; that the WWE likes (that could be debated). I'm in no way saying push every single smaller wrestler, but it would be nice to see someone like Jamie Noble, Evan Bourne and others to be built where fans can take them seriously and look more believable. Is the physical appearance or look of a WWE Superstar really important in terms of their career? Why does the physical appearance and look actually matter?

BQ - When I look at the WWE and the current main event slots, I've noticed most could retire within the next couple or few years. With that being said, the mid card talent will most likely be pushed into the main event such as The Miz, John Morrison, Jack Swagger and etc. This brings me to my question. Once these superstars are in the main event, do you think they will most likely wrestle the WWE Main Event style that we currently see or will we see them wrestle more %26quot;free%26quot;?

All detailed answers are appreciated and helpful. All opinions, facts, agreements and disagreements are welcomed. Thanks to those who took their time to read and answer the question. Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
WWE has always signed the bigger men, but I think the size of a wrestler is completely irrelevant. It's ridiculous how WWE judges?wrestlers based on their size and appearance.

WWE seems to be more interested in the bigger superstars and pushes the bigger superstars frequently. Superstars like Great Khali, Batista, Mark Henry, and others were pushed because of their size and appearance, although they are untalented wrestlers. They don't have superior wrestling ability compared to wrestlers like Austin Aries, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, KENTA, Taiji Ishimori, Tyler Black, Nigel McGuinness, Davey Richards, Kurt Angle, and others. WWE honestly doesn't care about wrestling ability, but whoever they feel is main event material and is marketable, they'll give a chance to that wrestler. Unfortunately, the smaller wrestlers such as Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, and others are ignored by the WWE. These men are unlikely to win a major title in the WWE.

Just like Vince McMahon is trying to find the next Hulk Hogan, I think Vince McMahon is trying to find the next Andre The Giant. These two wrestlers helped make WWE into what it is today and they had a match of epic proportions at Wrestlemania. Over the years wrestlers like Stone Cold, The Rock, Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger, and John Cena have tried to be WWE's top star. WWE has pushed Big Show to resemble Andre, but Big Show doesn't have the charisma Andre did. Andre kept the fans interested, but Big Show bores people out of their minds. Vince seems to want to recreate the legendary times in the WWE. He always struggles to find a competitor that has the caliber of Andre The Giant and make him the next immovable object. The unstoppable force in the wrestling business.

Nobody understand why Vince McMahon prefers bigger superstars over the talented ones. It was absolutely horrible in the 90s because Vince was signing all the talentless big superstars, and only 2 men stood out with their size. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are the only successful competitors to become major successes in the WWE in the 90s, at their size. If we look at the major competitors in the WWE, its a matter of size. People say that its being realistic. After all, you can't imagine Rey Mysterio actually defeating The Big Show or Kane in a real fight. WWE has always signed the bigger men, but I think the size of a wrestler is completely irrelevant. It's ridiculous how WWE judges wrestlers based on their size and appearance.

The physical appearances of wrestlers are only important in the WWE. If you noticed, wrestlers are smaller nowadays. The average WWE wrestler is around 225-250 pounds. Other wrestlers from other promotions are smaller as well. Most professional wrestlers outside of the WWE are even smaller. In the WWE, size and look actually matter. It's why people are worried for smaller wrestlers debuting such as Bryan Danielson. I don't know why it matters to the WWE regarding fan support or anything else.

BQ: WWE has a harsh schedule and most wrestlers in the WWE usually wrestle 5-6 days a week. They have house shows, interviews, and traveling. They keep a limited style to reduce the potential risk of injury. If wrestlers went to their full potential in the WWE, we would see injuries occurring frequently. I really doubt WWE will change their schedule because they are easily the most popular and they want to dominate other wrestling promotions and not allow them to expand. Every wrestler in the WWE has 5-7 moves they use per match and that isn't likely to change. WWE is not a wrestling promotion; it is sports entertainment. That's all WWE cares about. They won't focus on the quality of wrestling. Unfortunately, I can't see wrestlers being less limited unless WWE changes its scheduling. Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
Yes,they do.WWE is and Entertainment company, and they work and spend Good Money on entertaining us,the people. If the wrestlers didn't want to wrestle, they could get a job elsewhere. It's their choice to put their bodies on the line, and i respect them for that. Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
Well, its not just the physical appearance that matters. Its a good, actually just perfect combination looks( a good body, which is THE ONLY THING that matters if you are a girl i.e. Diva), face, wrestling skills, mic skills, pchychology, and the X factor to attract the fans, which is very very important in professional wrestling. If they can't get money selling you then how will you and why will they take you. They do have extraordinary people. most of them are, but after the deaths of superstars like Eddie and Benoit and the drug and steroid abuses, they have stopped their intake drastically and stopped many things like bloody matches, diva bikini matches, more interesting segments, abusive and horny languages to say the least. ya vince mcmahon has a soft corner in his heart and brain for big guys ( maybe due the fact of the existence of his eight wonder of the world- andre the giant-- his penis), but nowadays there are many smaller people who are pushed, but WWE lacks those X factor that WWE had say 5 or 10 years back. i remember the golden period with Goldberg, Stone cold, Rock Benoit, Eddie, Kurt Angle and more. they all were quite different from each other. Kurt, Benoit, Eddie were not the biggest but still they were oushed coz they were that damn good. I loved them. 2 of whom are dead and one is in TNA.

YES.. hell ya it is important for you to look good. Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
it's gimmick, ring work, charisma that matters, just looked at shawn michaels, he's 6ft1 or not very tall not very short, he's funny, has awesome wrestling skills, an ultimate fan base BUT to get accepted into wwe as a superstar you have to have talent ...be 7ft, be an awesome luchador,an ultimate extremist ectWhy does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
You're right, physical appearence definitely matters in the WWE and has an affect on how big a superstar gets. However, I'm not sure that this isn't perfectly acceptable. Certain physical traits make a person seem more serious and powerful looking so people will find it more realistic when these kinds of people are in the main events. For example, John Cena is tall and ridiculously muscular so people think he's automatically a good wrestler. If that's what people want to believe than the WWE is more than happy to oblige and will have Cena as a main eventer. The WWE is a company that has to please their fans so if fans think one guy is a more legitimate talent than another guy that's the way it has to be. Small guys like Bourne and Noble just don't seem strong enough to defeat big guys like Cena, HHH, Undertaker, etc. no matter how skilled they actually are.

But size isn't the only thing that constitutes %26quot;the look%26quot; that the WWE is looking for. For example, Mike Knox, R-Truth these guys are just as big and strong as some main eventers but obviously they're not getting any main event matches. (I don't think Dolph Ziggler has %26quot;the look%26quot;either and will be a mid card for life). But you have to realize that there are exceptions to your rule. For example, HBK, Jeff Hardy, and CM Punk are not HUGE guys with HUGE muscles but they're main eventers.

BQ: Cena, CM Punk, Orton should be around for a while longer and Edge may come back soon. I think at least Kofi, Swagger, and Morrison could fill some of the holes that the older guys are leaving. I think their style will be a little more free due to Swagger's amateur style, Kofi's high flying, and Morrison's unique athletic style. Why does the physical appearance of a WWE superstar really matter in the company; is it really that important?
yeah, i think the wwe is too strick on this, there is more pessure in the divas to keep in shape because people wont wanna sit and watch big women wrestle, but i think its stupid how they fired Cherry and Candice Michelle because they put on a lil weight and i have heard rumers about the WWE might be firing mickie james because apparently she has put on weight which is stupid coz shes a fan favourite and a main diva. i think its important because there on tv and there to entertain people but i think the WWE needs to not be as strick.
